My son has just received his maths A’Level result after having had weekly lessons with Mandy. He achieved an A* grade which has enabled him to accept a place at Oxford University. Having struggled at the start of the second year, Mandy really helped with his confidence, understanding key concepts, problem solving and exam technique. I would not hesitate to recommend Mandy and couldn’t have hoped for such an excellent tutor - Nicky, 16.8.24

Mandy has been meticulous in making observations of our son's abilities and finding areas where he had gaps in his knowledge from GCSE level. Mandy has definitely helped improve our son's confidence and self belief in his ability to do well in this subject. Our son is now able to hold his own in his Maths classes and it’s clear that he has made fantastic progress with regards to his mathematical abilities. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tutoring service to parents / students alike.

I’m so glad we made the decision to get in touch with Mandy; my son clearly benefited greatly from her tutorials, he has gone into his exams significantly better prepared and more confident than he would otherwise have been. The lesson notes are also useful so I can see what they have covered. I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Mandy if you are after a well-organised, personable and engaging maths tutor.

Mandy is the best tutor I have ever come across. She tutors my son in A Level Mathematics and is thorough, catering every session to upcoming tests or difficulties he is having. Mandy constantly ensures he consolidates under time pressure and improved his grade from a B to an A over just the summer.

How does Tutorberry online tuition work?Trial Lesson: At Tutorberry, we offer GCSE Maths and A Level Maths students a trial lesson to help familiarise themselves with the online method of working. During this session, our tutors assess the student to identify their current knowledge gaps, strengths, and weaknesses. All observations are recorded with feedback shared with the parent. Online Whiteboard: We utilise Miro to create a virtual whiteboard that supports real-time collaboration. Miro offers a range of powerful features that enhance the effectiveness of our lessons, enabling interactive and engaging teaching sessions. Video Calls: Video calls are typically conducted via Skype, providing unlimited call time for uninterrupted lessons. However, we are flexible and can accommodate other platforms such as Microsoft Teams based on preference. To participate in our online tuition sessions, students need the following: A stable internet connection. An iPad with Apple Pencil or a graphics tablet for direct collaboration on the virtual whiteboard. If neither is available, we arrange to provide a graphics tablet. A computer, laptop, or phone to take the video calls. A calculator. A quiet room to take the call. We ensure all necessary resources and materials are provided to support an effective and productive learning experience.

What makes Tutorberry unique? At Tutorberry, we prioritise the quality of our teaching. Our approach begins by establishing a solid foundation in GCSE Maths or A Level Maths, progressively advancing students from familiar concepts to tackling more complex and eventually exam-level questions. Developing the ability to navigate from familiar to exam-level questions is a key skill we cultivate through our unique teaching methodology. We recognise that many students experience anxieties when learning Maths, and our highly skilled tutors are trained to effectively address and overcome these challenges. Our teaching methodology employs a blended learning model, seamlessly integrating traditional classroom methods with online learning. This allows students to leverage our online platform to access resources, practice questions, and receive support tailored to their needs. Unique to Tutorberry, our regular lesson reports are highly valued by both parents and students. These reports offer comprehensive insights into each student's progress, providing a clear snapshot of their development over time. Parents appreciate being able to track their child's improvement in real time, and for students, these reports serve as a valuable tool for self-assessment and goal-setting. Students can see their strengths and areas needing improvement highlighted, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning.

How long are the lessons? You have complete flexibility over the duration of your lesson however we strongly recommend booking IGCSE Maths and A-Level Maths lessons as 2-hour slots, GCSE lessons as 1.5-hour slots. This approach has proven to be highly beneficial for several reasons: Exam Duration and Focus: IGCSE Maths & A-Level Maths exams last for 2 hours, while GCSE exams are 1.5 hours long. Students often find it challenging to maintain focus for these extended periods, especially if they are accustomed to shorter school lessons. By opting for longer lessons, we provide an opportunity to build their ability to concentrate effectively, preparing them for the demands of the actual exams. Comprehensive Learning: The extra time in longer lessons allows for a more comprehensive learning experience. Tutors can thoroughly explain the content, giving students ample opportunity to practice familiar questions, solidifying their understanding of key concepts. This foundational practice paves the way for tackling more challenging, unfamiliar exam questions, which in turn tests and hones their application skills, thus preparing them thoroughly for their exams. Confidence and Preparation: Students who follow this recommendation and book longer lessons often report feeling more confident and better prepared for their final exams. The additional time provides the space to develop and refine essential application skills and exam techniques through my formal exam coaching.
